What is Paid-to-Read(PTR)?

Paid-to-Read is a way for making money online by reading emails and clicking the paid link at the end of the email. Email values vary widely, sometimes they're work cash, others are worth points. Points can usually be exchanged to cash, or be used for advertising purposes. You have to wait for the timer of the viewed website opened from the email to earn the cash/points. Most PTRs are supposed to be free ways to earn, you don't have to "Pay" to join PTR sites.

What is PTC- is there a difference?

PTC stands for Paid-to-Click. In pure PTC sites You can earn money by clicking on banners, view the opened site, then waiting for the timer to expire. PTC sections are usually integrated into PTR sites.

How do I know if a PTR/PTC site is a scam or a paying one.
Scam sites are usually obvious at the first look. The Real Paying sites have email/Banner values ranging from $0.001-$0.02(2 cent). Non-paying scam sites have emails varying from 5cent- hundreds of dollars per email/PTC- which is highly impossible to pay because no advertiser would pay for those fees.

*Checking on my own: You can check if the site is sustainable(meaning able to pay its members with the advertising bought from them) by going to the advertising page. For example they have 100 $0.10 emails sold for $1. The real cost of the email is 100*$0.10=$10. It's obvious they're losing $9 everytime they sell that ad. That most likely means the site won't be able to pay its members, hence a scam.

Signing up.

If you can't receive email, check out your spam or bulk email folders. Some sites have country restrictions, this is indicated in the main page, FAQ page, or TOS/Terms page. Some accept search countries only, which usually are: Australia ,Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France , Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States.

*If the 1st sign-up page asks for an email only, submit your email then receive your confirmation email and click on the link, you will then be taken to the main sign-up page.

*When signing up, be sure you check the correct categories for emails. There are some bad categories put there that you are not allowed to check. These are used to prevent cheaters.

Also do not check "Search" if you are not from a search country. "International search" however you can check if you are from any country.

Payment options and minimum payouts.

For PTRs/PTRs, payments are usually made by e-currency(Paypal, E-gold, etc). Some sites pay within a day or two, a week, or 30 days. Other sites pay monthly whatever you earned. It depends on the site if you have to request or payment is automatic. The request button is usually located in the earnings page or redemption area(sometimes you have to reach payout to see it). Be sure to read the site's Help/FAQ and Terms/TOS pages.

What are referrals/downlines?

Referrals or downlines are people that have joined under your referral link. You earn a percentage of what they earn. Having a lot of referrals or a big downline makes you earn alot faster. Many sites have activity requirements so you have to click a certain amount of links or emails to earn from your downline.

What are cheat links/turing numbers?

Cheat links and turing numbers are there to prevent people from using auto-click or cheating software. Cheat links are usually indicated by negative valued cash/points. Almost all of the time the banner or email will indicate that it is a cheat link. For turing numbers, some sites have you choose the correct turing number the first time you click on a link in a session. The following links usually have no more turing numbers.

What are the different ways of earning in a PTR?f

a.)  Inbox(Emails) - This is a section where there are emails being sent on a daily basis.  Some sites send only cash emails, while others send points as well.  Points usually can be converted to cash or exchanged for free advertising(of your sites).  Emails can be checked on the site, or sent to your email address- check the settings in your account info.

b.) Paid-to-Click (PTC) - This is a section where there are PTC banners and text ads to click, containing either points or cash. Sometimes there's a contest running where every 100 or so clicks, there's a cash winner.

c.) Paid-to-Promote - Here you can get a URL link(ptp link)which you can use to earn money, by putting it in traffic exchanges, or buying/redeeming for ads like PTCs or emails and putting the ptp link so you can earn. The amount you earn ranges depending on the ptp rate, like $0.60 per 1000 credits to $1.00 per 1000 credits. See ptp section for more details..

d.) Paid-to-Search - There are also sites that have a section for search country members only. This is similar to the PTC section, but here after you click on the ads, you are directed to search portals where you can search for stuff you are interested in. Please note that you have to be from search countries in order to use this section, otherwise you usually get deleted.

e.) Manual Surf/Traffic Exchange – In this section there's a mini traffic exchange you can use to earn points or cash, or to promote your ptp link from other sites. What you do is view a website, wait for the timer to expire, click a turing number or "next", then go to the next website.

f) Paid-to-Signup(PTSU)- There are also sites with paid to signup sections, where you earn cash by signing up on different sites, from other PTR sites to survey sites etc. You usually get credit for these from a few days or a few weeks. Be sure you sign up with the correct info so that you will be credited.

What is the redemption/redeem area?

This is the section where you can use your points or cash earnings to redeem for ads like PTCs, emails, PTSUs, or upgrades, and sometimes payout request buttons are also located here. You can use the ads to promote your other PTR or get-paid-to programs.

Upgrades? What are they for?

Most of the PTR sites you can purchase upgrades to get free random referrals, free ads, or lowered payout. Some sites also allow you to use the ptp option, or a higher ptp option if you upgrade. Be sure the upgrade has a good return that you can profit from it.
